Amelia, OH-Stephen Workman, a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, passed away peacefully in his home in Amelia, Ohio on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023.
Steve was born Oct. 10, 1942 in Auto, WV. At the age of 17, Steve enlisted in the U.S. Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. As part of his service Steve did two tours in Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal for his heroic achievements. Steve retired after 24 years of military service.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Cathy; stepchildren, Kim Conrad (Rob), and Travis Bolton; grandchildren, Jack and Sam Conrad; siblings, AnnaBelle Antonson, Jearldine Sydenstricker, Delmas Workman, and Marvin Workman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Florence Workman; and siblings, Charles Workman, Wash Workman, Allen Workman, Bonnie Sweet Owens.
His loved ones will remember his enthusiasm for West Virginia University football, bluegrass music, golf, and his deep love for his country.
