At its regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 8, the Lewisburg Rotary Club heard from Darcie McGraw, the General Manager of the Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center. McGraw reported on the growing impact of GVAC in its first few months since opening in May.
GVAC serves more than 1000 individual members as well as hundreds of day pass visitors. In addition to the pools, members have access to regular exercise classes and the popular concession stand. GVAC will be partnering with Greenbrier County Schools to provide a swim curriculum for 6th grade students, and the center will be incorporated into local schools in many other ways.
Through its “Everybody Swims” scholarship program, supported through the efforts of Greenbrier Sporting Club members and others, need-based memberships are provided to 26 local individuals. Lewisburg Rotary Club is a proud financial sponsor of GVAC as part of its service to the community.
