The Spartan Marching Band of Greenbrier East High School is preparing for the special Senior night activities at Spartan Stadium Friday evening prior to the East/Princeton football game, and to compete Sunday in the Atlantic Coast Championships of the Tournament of Bands in Hershey, PA.
This final push of the competition season comes after the Spartans place second in their class and fifth overall in the West Virginia High School Invitational Marching Band Classic this past Saturday morning in the University of Charleston Stadium.
Later that evening in Fairmont, the Spartans swept Group Three in the Region 13 Championships of the Tournament of Bands.
The Spartan Band scored an overall rating of 87 in the Region 13 competition which is a higher rating than the band has scored in the previous three competitions.
“What makes this such a unique show,” Director James Allder noted, “Is the fact that the music for the show was composed/arranged entirely by Greenbrier East alumni.”
The band will present the entire competition show at halftime of Friday night’s game with Princeton. Members of the Class of 2017 will be performing in pre-game and halftime in Spartan Stadium for the final time as members of the Spartan Marching Band.
