Madeline Vandevender honored by the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh is a senior majoring in Chemistry/English at West Virginia University. She will received the College Chemistry Award presented by the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh at their Annual Awards Dinner on May 7, at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. The award includes both a monetary prize and a framed certificate of accomplishment. In addition, Vandevender will be recognized through a monetary award presented to the West Virginia University Library in her honor, along with an engraved nameplate. This nameplate will be added to the plaque in the Chemistry Department listing prior SACP winners.
Madeline is the daughter of John and Dr. Ruth Vandevender and a 2010 graduate of Greenbrier East High School. While at West Virginia University some of Madeline’s achievements include: WVU Bucklew Scholar, National Merit Scholar, Valedictorian Scholarship, Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship, WV Promise Scholarship, President’s List, Dean’s List, ACS Analytical Chemistry Award, Phi Lambda Upsilon Chemistry Honorary Society, Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, Outstanding Senior in English and the WVU American Institute of Chemists Award in 2014.
