Senator Stephen Baldwin visited Mrs. Amanda Wheeler’s kindergarten class last week as part of “Community Helpers” week at the school. Police officers, paramedics, librarians, and veterinarians also visited the students to teach them about various ways to help the community professionally.
As a way of holding a mock legislative session, Senator Baldwin asked the students to pretend they were senators and make “rules” for West Virginia. They politely discussed several ideas related to education and crime. They voted down one bill to increase the speed limit and voted for one bill to include hands-on “work” during school.
“These kindergarten students impressed me,” said Baldwin. “The future is bright with these future leaders!”
