New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton will once again be part of the field for the popular Wednesday Pro-Am at The 2017 Greenbrier Classic on July 5.
Payton, who brought his Saints to The Greenbrier Sports Performance Center from 2014 through 2016 for training camp, has been a frequent participant in the pro-am and a great friend of The Greenbrier.
“We’re always glad to have Coach Payton back at The Greenbrier,” said Habibi Mamone, executive tournament director, The Greenbrier Classic. “He’s a fantastic coach and person, and I know the fans at The Greenbrier Classic will be excited about seeing him once again.”
Payton, 53, has been the Saints head coach since 2006, after a long career as an assistant at the college and NFL levels. In 10 seasons with the Saints, Payton has a record of 94-66. He has taken his team to the playoffs five times and won Super Bowl XLIV in 2010.
An Illinois native, Payton was the AP Coach of the Year in 2006 and is a member of the Eastern Illinois Hall of Fame.
Payton joins the stars of A&E’s “Duck Dynasty,” country music singer Scotty McCreery, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Houston Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni and ESPN basketball analyst Seth Greenberg on the list of celebrities who will tee it up along with some of the best golfers in the world like Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson. Other celebrities will be announced in the coming weeks.
Complimentary grounds badges will be offered to patrons for all seven days of The Greenbrier Classic, July 3-9. Fans are asked to visit GreenbrierClassic.com to register for their free badges while supplies last.
