Greensboro, NC-Roy Wendell Ware, Sr., 77, sadly died on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at Moses Cone Hospital, after a long illness.
Mr. Ware was born in White Sulphur Springs on Feb. 25, 1937, to Omel and Lena Ware.
He is survived by: his wife of 55 years, Nancy P. Ware; his son, Dr. Roy Ware, Jr. (Karen); two daughters, Julie W. Williams (Scott) and Jennifer W. Roberts (Todd); and grandchildren, Bradley, Heather (Kasey), Bryce, Jessica, Alexander, Zachary, Racheal and Courtney. He is also survived by three brothers, Junior and Dallas Ware of White Sulphur Springs and Ralph Ware (Jennie) of Ohio; his mother-in-law, June Peters of Linside; Donald and Joanna Tingler of Greensboro, NC and Drs. Dana and Jana Olsen of Lindside.
Mr. Ware served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1959. He was an active member of Fairgrove United Methodist Church, an avid fisherman, woodworker and volunteer at Hall Towers and Heartland Living and Rehabilitation Center. Even in his death, he chose to help others by becoming a donor to Miracles In Sight and Carolina Donor Services organizations. He took great joy in spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed by all.
The family will hold a memorial service at Fairgrove United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16.
Burial will be held at a later date.
