Earlier this month, Mrs. Pam Hanna, a teacher at Ronceverte Elementary School, was awarded a grant through the Wal-Mart Community Grant Project (WCGP) and received $1,000 to purchase six chrome notebooks, along with sleeves, wireless mouses, and bundles for her classroom. Mrs. Hanna received her grant from Mr. J.B. Bowyer, Lewisburg Wal-Mart manager.
“Wal-Mart believes in operating globally and giving back locally – creating impact in the neighborhoods where we live and work. Through the Community Grant Program, our associates are proud to support the needs of their communities by providing grants to local organizations.” states the WCGP website.
“WCGP grants range from $250 to $5,000, and there are eight areas of funding for which an organization can apply,” stated Mrs. Hanna. “They are; hunger relief and healthy eating, health and human service, quality of life, education, community and economic development, diversity and inclusion, public safety, and environmental sustainability.”
