Many people talk about the “Joy of Giving” during Christmas, however Ronceverte Elementary School students, faculty and staff put that saying into action.
Each year the RES Student Council organizes a food drive and this year, during the days between Dec. 9-18, students collected food items for the Ronceverte Food Pantry in Ronceverte.
When all the items were counted, the total for grades PreK – 5 was over 1,600, enough items to completely fill the food pantry. “Even though I’m retired, I’m proud to continue to be a part of this wonderful yearly program,” stated Joanne Jolliffe, retired speech therapist. Jolliffe helps to organize and deliver the food to the pantry each year.
