Caldwell-Ronald Wayne Cruse, Sr., 69, passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem, VA, after battling cancer.
Ron was born June 29, 1951, in Greenbrier County, a son to the late James William and Eda Jane Fitzgerald Cruse.
He worked for The Greenbrier Hotel over 40 years maintaining most of the Upholstery work you still see throughout the resort today, during that duration he also opened and operated his own shop, Greenbrier Upholstery. In his free time, Ron reconstructed his father’s 1954 Chevy pickup truck and it was something he took great pride in. Above all else, Ron loved his wife, sons, and his grandchildren.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Duane Cruse.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joyce Marie Cruse; sons, Ronald “Ronnie” Cruse, Jr. and Mark William Cruse and wife Becca; brothers, Jimmy, and Ricky Cruse; five grandchildren, Gavin, Caleb, Tristan, Kyra, and Reina; special nephew, Chad Cruse and wife Emily; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 12 noon, on Friday, Jan. 22, in Rosewood Cemetery Mausoleum, Lewisburg, with Pastor Ike Hughes officiating. Services will be private for the family.
