White Sulphur Springs-Robert Lee Brooks, 81, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born Nov. 17, 1938, in Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Lawerance Ashby and Lollie Elizabeth Lilly Brooks.
Robert was a member of the Alvon United Methodist Church. He worked as a Tractor Trailer Driver cross-country for 41 years under Werner Enterprises. Robert retired with over 1 million miles accident free. After retiring he worked for the city of White Sulphur Springs for four years and worked briefly for Shanklin Funeral Home. He enjoyed collecting Post Cards while working on the road.
Other than his parents, he is preceded by a brother, Charles William Brooks.
Survivors include the love of his life, Nellie Allyne Brooks; daughters, Nellie Elizabeth Wade and husband J.D. of Crows, VA, Cindy Dolin and husband Kenny of Alvon; son, Ricky Church and wife Rajetta of Alvon; grandchildren, Sunja Craft and husband Joe, Amanda Dolin and husband Boo, Adam Dolin and wife Shannon, Keri Spradlin and husband Mark, and Shane Dolin; great-grandchildren, Alexis Richmond, Mark Spradlin, Tesso Spradlin, Ava Spradlin, Olivia Spradlin and Joshua Dolin.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. at Alvon United Methodist Church in White Sulphur Springs with pastor Gerald Roberts and Pastor Buck Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Caldwell.
Visitation was held Thursday evening, Dec. 12, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs.
