Robert Elwood Surgeon
On Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, Robert (Bob) Elwood Surgeon passed away in his home.
Bob was born Dec. 24, 1946, in Ronceverte, the son of the late Robert Elwood Surgeon, Sr. and Mildred Suttle Surgeon Atchison.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Laura Rich Hartman.
Bob graduated from Greenbrier High School in 1964 and continued his education at Chicago Technical College. In March, 1966, Bob was drafted into the United States Army and served for three years during the Vietnam Conflict. He then worked and retired from ABB after 47 years. He was a charter member of Greystone Baptist Church in Fairlea and was a faithful member until his passing.
Bob is survived by: his sisters-in-law, Vila and husband Al Clowser from Lewisburg, Shirley and husband Ralph Perry from Grundy, VA, Lorraine and husband Ron Hummer from Anaheim, CA and Clarice and husband Bob Short from White Mountain Lake, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
After a seven year battle with cancer, Bob entered heaven and met his Saviour face to face.
Bob was loved by his wife, Ginny, who was his soulmate and best friend for 49 years. Their love grew greater as each day passed. He will be greatly missed by her, their son, Jeff, daughter-in-law, Misti and precious grandson, Jeffrey from Pensacola, FL.

The family received friends Tuesday evening, Feb. 3 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg. The service immediately followed at the funeral home.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Wallace & Wallace Cemetery. Officiating the service were Pastor Youel Altizer and Pastor Ryan Steinke from Greystone Baptist Church, Pastor Mark Brandon from Chattanooga, TN and Pastor Brian Dean from Charleston.
