The 2018 WV Road Kill Cook-Off was held on Sept. 28 and 29 in Marlinton.

The town was packed for both the cook-off and the Autumn Harvest Festival. The lines were long as curious patrons waited to try a variety of “roadkill” dishes, mostly centered around venison. Each attendee got to vote for their favorite dish, and the winners are as follows:

1st Place – Youth Health Service Hillbillies (Predator Prey Chili)

2nd Place – You Hit ‘Em – We Spit ‘Em (Hillbilly Mardi Gras Alligator & Turtle Gumbo)

3rd Place – Pendleton Community Bank (Fender Fried Fawn Smothered in Vulture)

Showmanship – The Coal Hollow Brothers (Solomon A Gundy)

People’s Choice – Pendleton Community Bank (Fender Fried Fawn Smothered in Vulture)
