Lewisburg-Rita Louise Thomas, 88, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at home.
Rita was born Nov. 12, 1930, in Elkins to the late Oscar Ralph and Hallie Canfield Kyle.
She was a retired teacher having taught in High Schools and at New River Community and Technical College in Lewisburg. Rita was a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Carl Edward Thomas in 2015.
Surviving include her brother, Lawrence R. Kyle of Elkins; two nephews, Thomas (Kathy) of Howell, MI; Edward (Jum) of Alexandria, VA; niece, Linda Thomas of Roanoke, VA; two dear friends, Vivian Longanacre and Frances Richardson and many other good friends in Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia.
The funeral service was Sunday evening, May 12, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg where Pastor Tim Halloran officiated. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
A graveside service was held Monday, May 13, at the Elkins Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
