White Sulphur Springs-Richard Rowe Cross, 81 passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.
Born Apr. 28, 1937, at Elkins, he was a son of the late Porter and Minnie Rowe Cross and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Richard was a self-employed cabinet maker, avid golfer, rabbit hunter, a rescuer of many kittens and owner of the Pocahontas Archery Manufacturing of White Sulphur Springs.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his only son, Richard R. “Rickie” Cross, Jr.; three sisters, Loretta Taylor, Susie Showmoe and Pee Dee Purdett; and three brothers, Donald, Jack and Randall Cross.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Spinks Cross; a special friend, Jimmy Huffman; several nieces and nephews, including special niece and nephews, Shawn Shrader and Steven and Sally Cross.
Funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 8, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, where Pastor Lowell O’Dell and Pastor Stewart Farley officiated. Interment was in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg.
The family gathered following the graveside service at Rhema Christian Center in Fairlea for a meal.
Visitation was at the funeral home before the service.
