Lewisburg-Rev. Walter Irvin Corner, 71, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born Sept. 16, 1946, in Bluefield, he was a son of the late Charles Lee Corner and Mary Ellen Barrett Corner.
Rev. Corner was ordained through the Appalachian Conference of the IPHC. He was a minister of The Pentecostal Holiness Chruch having served at churches in Fayetteville, Covington, VA, and Organ Cave. He was the director of the food bank at the White Sulphur Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lee Shrader.
Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Joan Rock Corner; daughter, Denise L. Honaker and husband Michael of Lewisburg and their children, Andrew L. Honaker and Payton G. Honaker; daughter, Carole Gore and husband Jim of Virginia; son, Mark W. Marrs and family of Lewisburg; god-daughters, Sarah Beth Marsolek and family of Virginia, Danielle M. Cadd and family of Virginia, Patricia L. Kirkwood and husband of Virginia; niece, Nancy Cregger and family; nephews, Mark, Lee, John, Junior Cregger, and David Byrd and families. He will be missed by many friends and loved ones.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg where Pastor Gene Sizemore officiated. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Air Force followed in Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Organ Cave.
Friends called at the funeral home from 12 noon until time of the service.
