Renick Freedom Celebration Schedule of Events

On Saturday, June 26, a day of fun and festivities is scheduled in Renick for the Renick Freedom Celebration. All activities are free and event will be held at the Renick Park. This event is sponsored by the Town of Renick. Please note that times and activities are subject to change.

8 to 10 a.m.: Pancake Breakfast at Fire House – Sponsored by the RVFD

9 a.m.: Horseshoe Tournament Sign-ups (Pitching begins immediately following sign-ups)

10:30 a.m.: Parade Line-Up (Field across from Post Office)

11:30 a.m.: Parade Judging begins

12 noon: Grand Parade

1 p.m.: Welcoming and Special Recognition

1:30 p.m.: Music by The Renick Church of God

2 p.m.: Live Music by Ben Hershman and Sons of The Mountains

12 noon: “Lucky Duck.” Pick a duck for your chance to win a gift card. 1st place – $100, 2nd place – $75, 3rd place – $50, 4th place – $25, and 5th place – $10 – Prizes sponsored by Sarah Bostic

1:30 to 5 p.m.: Hands-on activities for all ages

2 p.m.: Teddy Bear Parade

2 p.m.: Corn Hole Tournament Sign-Ups (Play begins immediately following sign-ups)

1 p.m.: Cake, Candy, Cookie, Pie and Bread Check In

2 p.m.: Cake, Candy, Cookie, Pie, and Bread contest. Judging begins at 2:30. 1st Place – $50, 2nd Place – $30, and 3rd Place – $20

3:30 p.m.: Cupcake Eating Contest (Open to the first 24 contestants)

4 p.m.: Live Music by New Horizon

3:30 p.m.: Cupcake Eating Contest (Open to the first 24 contestants to sign-up)

6 p.m.: Live Music by Eade’s Mountain Boys

6 p.m.: Free Watermelon

8 p.m.: Live Music by The Goodson Boys

Pull out your favorite cake, cookie, pie or yeast bread recipe and enter our Baking Contest: Monetary prizes will be awarded in each of the four categories for first, second, and third place. Entries need to be checked in by 2 p.m.

  • The Best Baked Cake: Bring your favorite prepared cake, and judges will judge on overall appearance and taste.
  • Best Baked Pie: Prepare your favorite pie (if you are entering a dairy pie, you must bring the pie on ice and in cooler). Pies will be judged on taste and overall appearance.
  • The Best Baked Cookie: The rules are simple, bring six of your favorite cookie and judges will judge on overall appearance and taste.
  • The Best Baked Yeast Bread: Bring your best yeast bread, judges will judge on overall appearance and taste.
