It’s not too late! Sixteen classes, each taught in 7-8 week sessions, cover a variety of different disciplines ranging from Contemporary to Yoga. Classes are held onstage at the Lewis Theatre, Carnegie Hall’s dance studio, and at a nearby studio. The first session starts Tuesday, Sept. 3, right after Labor Day, and you can pre-register or at the beginning of each class (please arrive early).
Along with core classes of Contemporary Dance in age groups from 7-teen, Trillium is offering some new classes this year in Folk Dance, Poetry and Making Dances. Beginning Folk dance will be for age 12 through adult taught by Ross Weisiger. Poetry is for age 16 through adult taught by local poet Sarah Elkins. Making Dances, taught by Samara Michaelson, will help students age 10-adult create their own pieces for solo or group work.
Popular classes, such as Hip Hop for youth and adults, and Creative Movement for Pre-K and kindergartners and age 5-6, will again be offered. For wellness and spiritual strengthening we have Improvisational Dance, Qi Gong, and two types of Yoga.
Trillium encourages dancers and artists to develop many talents. Any student who enrolls in a Contemporary Dance class will receive a 20 percent discount off all other classes that student registers for, during that session. This is a great opportunity to strengthen your abilities in other avenues.
Applications for financial assistance are still available for future sessions.
