Ronceverte-Reginald (Frenchy) Calvin Curry was born May 8, 1952, in Ronceverte, to the late Eva Mae Woods Curry and Clarence O. Curry. Reginald (Rex) was the oldest of seven siblings.
Frenchy was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donawha (Don) Curry; and his sister, Pamela Walker-Anglin, with whom he shares the same home-going date, Aug. 21. Frenchy was also preceded in death by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Frenchy was raised in the Washington, DC Public School System, enlisted in the United States Army, and was then sent to Vietnam. Of all of his struggles of being a Vietnam Veteran, Frenchy was able to go back to school and study auto mechanics and IT.
Those left to cherish his memory are his only son, Rico Curry and wife Susan of Washington, DC; sister, Cheryl Walker-Bates of Stafford, VA; brothers, Michael D. Walker and wife Vanessa of Lewisburg, Greg Walker and wife Jennifer of Lexington, KY and Patrick Walker and wife Meredith of Ronceverte; aunt Elaine Woods Weldon and husband Charles of Lewisburg; his former wife, Patricia S. Curry of Washington, DC; and grandchildren, Leaya Curry and Rico Curry, Jr. both of Washington, DC.
Friends and family gathered Saturday, Sept. 8, for a memorial service at the home of his cousin and friend, Rodney Walker on the ridge in Ronceverte.
