U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV) Monday announced federal funding for the Town of Alderson to enhance the Alderson Police Department’s ability to serve and protect the community.
“Using my seniority to bring home Federal investments remains one of the most important services I can provide our State, especially when it comes to providing resources to our law enforcement officials to protect our communities,” said Rahall. “As budget constraints tighten in the Congress, I will continue to fight to ensure that law enforcement and public safety programs that our communities need and want are not undercut.”
The Town of Alderson will receive a $20,900 grant awarded through USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Program for the Alderson Police Department to assist in the purchase of a new multi-purpose Utility Police Interceptor police cruiser. The Town will contribute $17,100, bringing the total project cost to $38,000.
USDA Rural Development helps finance essential community facilities for public use in rural areas, including child care centers, hospitals, medical clinics, fire, rescue and police stations, and other public buildings and transportation to ensure that such facilities are available to all rural residents.
