Dear Editor:
I recently had to file a complaint against a local contractor for faulty work. The magistrate court knew this person was hard to contact. A hearing was scheduled without my being contacted. I called the office to find out about the hearing and was told it went in my favor. I had asked to be reimbursed for court cost plus the aggravation I have gone through with all of this. Why was this not collected while he was there – now?
I was informed by Karen Hanna, the deputy clerk, that I must pay out more money – file another claim, put a claim on his property and bank account to get what is due me. She asked me the question: What is it that you don’t understand? Does anyone understand the magistrate system?
