After consulting with the Child and Youth Advocacy Center of Lewisburg, National Forest Service and the Greenbrier Polar Bear Club, a unified decision has been made to cancel the Greenbrier Valley Polar Bear Plunge scheduled for Mar. 7. Due to the recent snow storms, Blue Bend received about 18 inches of snow. With only a few days left until the event, conditions are not favorable to allow a safe event for plungers, staff and those who come to watch. Staging the event is impossible under the current conditions. Safety for all is the first priority for the event. For those plungers who have already raised money for the CYAC you have the option of giving the money back to your sponsors OR asking the sponsors if they would be willing to make a contribution to the CYAC.
