The Pocahontas County Opera House welcomes Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) back to its stage on Aug. 18 at 7:30 p.m. with a production of the Roger Bean musical “Honky Tonk Laundry.”
When Lana Mae Hopkins, owner and proprietress of the Wishy Washy Washateria, hires Katie to help out in the laundromat, they soon find themselves up to their elbows in soap, suds, and “cheatin’ hearts.” The two country angels join forces to turn their good old laundromat into a boots-cootin’ honky-tonk, exacting a touch of revenge against those that “done ‘em wrong,” and all while guaranteeing every customer a good, clean time.
This new musical from Roger Bean features the music of Carrie Underwood, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride, Sugarland, Sara Evans, Dixie Chicks, Chely Wright, Dolly Parton, Pam Tillis, Jo Dee Messina, Gretchen Wilson, Terri Cark, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline.
Tickets for the Opera House performance are $10 for adults and free for anyone 17 years old and younger. Tickets are available at pocahontasoperahouse.org, the Fourth Avenue Gallery in Marlinton, and at the door the evening of the performance.
Performances at the Opera House are informal, family-friendly and open to all. The entrance and main seating are accessible to persons with disabilities. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to attend; special accommodations can be arranged upon request by calling 304-799-6645.

Support is also provided by Pocahontas County Drama, Fairs and Festivals and the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
