A man was fatally injured after being struck by a vehicle near Renick early Saturday morning, on July 25, according to Greenbrier County Sheriff Jan Cahill.
Larry McCarty, 60, of Renick, stepped out in front of a car traveling on Julia Road at around 2 a.m. Cahill said McCarty was apparently walking in the road at the time. The driver, whom the sheriff declined to identify, immediately stopped his vehicle, called the authorities and attempted to render aid, but McCarty died at the scene.
Deputy Gideon Tate is the investigating officer. No charges have been filed against the driver, but the incident is still under investigation.
