Sunday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m., marks the exciting opening of this season’s Carnegie Classics Concert Series at Carnegie Hall. Hosted by world-class pianist Barbara Nissman, a Steinway “legend” and a 2023 inductee into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame, these concerts combine great music with informal chat to introduce classical music to new audiences, as well as inspiring and entertaining all music lovers. Barbara takes us on a magical journey into the world of her favorite composers. She makes listening easy and music meaningful as she shares her joy and passion for her composer “friends” and their great music with all of us. No education is required – just a set of ears to listen and an open heart to receive the joys of this wonderful music!
Now in its fourth season, this three-concert series should be the most exciting yet!
Barbara explores “The French Connection” in the opening Oct. 26 concert focusing on music by French composers, Debussy and Ravel. She will be joined by special guest, violinist and teacher Russell Fallstad for a performance of Ravel’s Tzigane to celebrate Ravel’s 150th anniversary year. Of course, to open the program Barbara will perform everyone’s favorite piece by Debussy, Clair de Lune.
The series continues with “Naughty, Naughty Mozart!” on Saturday evening Mar. 7 and Barbara will be joined by some friends from the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra for a performance of one of Mozart’s beautiful Piano Concertos and other surprising goodies. The series concludes on Friday, May 1, with the visit by the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra with conductor Maurice Cohn, featuring Barbara as soloist in the popular Grieg Piano Concerto, an audience favorite.

Tickets are $30/adults and $20/students. Thanks to the Carnegie Cardinal Fund, Greenbrier County Students attend for free, but still must reserve a seat.
