The Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg announces the call of The Rev. Dr. Anna Pinckney Straight to be the congregation’s 16th pastor, effective Sept. 1. Dr. Straight comes to Old Stone after serving as an associate pastor at University Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill, NC.
A native of Charleston, SC, she graduated from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA and Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Her first call was to the Community Presbyterian Church in Arthurdale, WV and she subsequently served as the Pastor of Greencastle Presbyterian Church in Greencastle, PA before being called to University Presbyterian.
“From our very first conversation, it was apparent that the congregation of Old Stone was committed to asking big questions about life, faith and discipleship. It’s an exciting place to be – working with a congregation rooted in history while simultaneously living into what it means to be a 21st century church. It is an honor to be on this journey with them, and I’m looking forward to seeing the future unfold,” stated Dr. Straight.
Dr. Straight is married to Ben, a microbiologist, and they are the parents of daughter, Sarah Allan.
