The monthly meeting of the Williamsburg CEOS club was held at the home of Barbara Deeds on Oct. 10. The meeting was called to order by president Barbara Deeds at 1:10 p.m. Virginia Hanna read a devotion, “Break Free From Criticism,” citing scripture from 1st Corinthians.
Members present were Loretta Shirley, Virginia Hanna, Cassandria Perkins, Laura Rose, Patricia Post and Barbara Deeds. Laura Sevy from RSVP was there as a guest. Burl Post was also present as a guest.
Members reported 173 volunteer hours, 174 motivational hours and 24 books read. Minutes of the September meeting were read by Virginia Hanna and approved. Barbara Deeds gave the treasurer’s report.
Patricia Post and Barbara Deeds told of their experiences at the State CEOS Fall Conference. They learned some cooking tips for pressure cooking, slow cooking and cast iron cooking. They also learned of new state by-laws concerning members. Barbara Deeds showed a key basket and bandana wreath that she made in craft classes. Blanche Knicely also attended the conference.
Plans were made for attending the County CEOS workshop in Rupert on Nov. 10. There was also the beginning of plans for a Christmas party.
Cards were signed to be sent to friends and shut-ins and food was collected for a local food pantry.
Barbara Deeds presented the lesson for this month – “Seven Natural Wonders of West Virginia.”
Laura Sevy gave out gifts and certificates from the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program.
Motion to adjourn was made by Loretta Shirley and seconded by Cassandria Perkins with approval by all present.
The next meeting will be held Nov. 14 at the home of Banche Knicely.
