At the October meeting of the GFWC WV Ronceverte Woman’s Club (RWC), the club welcomed two special guests. Each year the club sponsors a student from Greenbrier East High School to attend the WV Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership seminar in Charleston. This year’s attendee was Emily Swan, a junior at GEHS. She came to the RWC meeting and told about her experiences at the WV HOBY and how it affected her plans for her future. It inspired her so much that she made arrangements to also attended the National HOBY held in Chicago.
The club also sponsors a middle school student to attend the Jr. Conservation Camp at Ripley. Kali Hudson was selected and attended in July. She too reported about the wonderful experiences that she enjoyed and told about some of the things she learned about conservation and recycling.
At our upcoming meeting on Nov. 20, the club will have their annual auction at 7 p.m. Each member will bring holiday crafts, baked goods and other items to be auctioned. This is open to the public and especially to any women who are considering joining this civic organization.
The club meets monthly at the Ronceverte Baptist Church fellowship hall on Main Street and Locust Street. For more information, please call 304- 647-4890.
