Norman “Gene” Shafer, 74, joined his Heavenly Father, sons, granddaughter, and many other loved ones who were waiting for his arrival in heaven early Tuesday morning, Jan. 28, 2020.
Born November 12, 1946, in Caldwell, Gene was a proud Arizona resident, native West Virginian and veteran. A devoted and dedicated man of God and Family, he was loved, treasured and respected by his family, friends and all who knew him.
He was proceeded in death by sons, Michael Andrew Shafer of Lewisburg, and Monty Gene Shafer of Cave Creek, AZ; granddaughter, Mikala Smith of Lancaster, PA; and parents, Earl and Faye Shafer of Caldwell.
He is survived by his most cherished and loved wife of 46 years, Carolyn Agee Shafer of Peoria, AZ; daughter, Misty Smith and husband Jason of York, PA; three grandsons, Devin Shafer of New Orleans, LA, and Nicholas and Jace Smith of York, PA, five granddaughters, Amanda, Ashlie, Kiersten and Haley Shafer of Peoria, AZ, and Brandy Parsons of Greenbrier County; two great-grandchildren, Gideon Shafer of Peoria, AZ, and Lilith Adkins of Greenbrier County; two brothers, Bill and wife Lila Shafer of Caldwell, and Michael and wife Pam Shafer of Wayne, WV; and several nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held at a later date.
