White Sulphur Springs-Norma “Skippy” Jean Lucas, formerly of Sweet Chalybeate, VA, died Sunday morning, Apr. 20, 2014, at Greenbrier Medical Center in Fairlea.
Born Apr. 6, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Homer Nelson and Virginia Dare Martin Howard.
She was of the Presbyterian faith. Before retiring, she worked 20 years as a day cleaner at The Greenbrier. She loved her cats, worked crossword puzzles and worked with crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lawrence Lucas in 1980.
Survivors include: daughter, Diane Griffith of Sweet Chalybeate, VA; son, Ricky Lucas (Carolyn Shanklin) also of Sweet Chalybeate; grandchildren, Amanda Griffith Dowdy, Angel Linkous and Susan Wolfe; great-grandchildren, Devan, Ana, Xavier, Mya, Gavin, Draven and Ayden; and life-long friend, Barbara Long of White Sulphur Springs.
Her funeral service was conducted Wednesday, Apr. 23 in the chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home where Rev. Kenny Baker officiated.
Interment was in Sweet Chalybeate Cemetery in Sweet Chalybeate, VA.
Visitation was Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
