The Greenbrier Valley Chorale will hold auditions for their winter concert on Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon. No appointment is required; simply show up at Carnegie Hall, and music director Barbara Lutz will conduct a short, private interview with each applicant. Lutz emphasizes it’s a painless audition but previous singing or other music experience is a prerequisite.
The theme for the winter concert will be A Holiday Choral Festival at Carnegie Hall, set for Sunday, Dec. 13, at 3 p.m. The program will be celebratory and will include some cool arrangements of some familiar songs. It will also include music of other traditions, both sacred and secular.
The Chorale’s first rehearsal will be Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Carnegie Hall auditorium, and members are encouraged to come early and pick up their music.
Greenbrier Valley Chorale, under the superb direction of Lutz, has, for more than 20 years, performed the very best in choral music. The music selections for the concert will include traditional carols and hymns to celebrate the spirit of the holidays. All choral voices are encouraged to come for an audition and join the Chorale.
