New River Community and Technical College will offer Residential Wiring and Beginning Excel community and workforce education classes at Greenbrier Valley Campus in April.
Beginning Excel will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Apr. 18, 25 and May 2 at Greenbrier Hall, Room 316. The instructor for the course is Libby Rogers, New River CTC Professor of Business. The course will introduce effective use of the Microsoft Office spreadsheet software, including basic worksheets and charts, entering basic formulas, formatting worksheets, printing and displaying worksheets and charts, text modifications, moving and copying ranges of cells and formulas, inserting and deleting worksheet cells, decision-making using Excel functions, and more. Residential Wiring will be held from 6-8 p.m. starting Apr. 26 on Tuesdays and Thursdays for six weeks. The Residential Wiring class will provide training for anyone interested in learning about installation and repair of electrical wiring for residential housing. Topics covered during the course will include: how electricity works, basic residential wiring, how to size wires, panel boxes, overload device functions, and lighting controls. The class will meet at the Lee Street Complex, Building D. The cost is $250. Pre-registration is requested by Apr. 24 by contacting sgreen@newriver.edu or 304-929-5009.
