Because the cost of college can deter students from attending, the New River Community and Technical College Foundation is giving away a $1,000 scholarship to a student who initiates the registration process during one of New River CTC’s five Registration Day events in August.
“New River CTC’s tuition is significantly less than other areas schools, so $1,000 goes a long way toward helping a student achieve their dream of earning a degree or workforce certificate,” said Interim Executive Director of the Foundation Michael Green.
Registration Days are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Nicholas County Campus in Summersville on Tuesday, Aug. 1; the Mercer County Campus in Princeton on Wednesday, Aug. 2; the Greenbrier Valley Campus in Lewisburg on Thursday, Aug. 3; the Advanced Technology Center in Ghent on Friday, Aug. 4 and the Raleigh County Campus in Beaver on Monday, Aug. 7.
To be eligible for the $1,000 scholarship, a student must initiate the registration process during one of the Registration Day events. The scholarship winner will be chosen through a random drawing and announced prior to the start of the fall semester.
Admissions, financial aid and Student Success Center representatives will be on hand to assist both current and new students. Fall classes at New River CTC start Monday, Aug. 21.
The New River CTC Foundation will fund more than $85,000 in scholarships for students attending the college’s four campuses during the 2017-18 school year.
