The New River CTC Foundation will host informational sessions on each campus in March and April for New River CTC students interested in receiving a scholarship to help them pay for college. Both current and new students are encouraged to attend.
The Foundation is accepting scholarship applications online and plans to award nearly $100,000 in scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters.
“The New River CTC Foundation will fund more scholarships than ever this year to help students pay for the cost of college – whether they plan to earn an associate degree, workforce certificate or transfer credits to a four-year institution,” said Interim Executive Director of the Foundation Michael Green.
The scholarship events will provide step-by-step instructions on the scholarship application process, such as how to write an effective personal statement and scholarship essay, request letters of recommendation, submit the online application and how scholarship funds affect state and federal financial aid.
Those who attend will be registered to win a $100 New River CTC bookstore gift certificate. Light refreshments also will be provided. The informational sessions have been scheduled at the following New River CTC campuses and locations:
- Mar. 22 – Greenbrier Valley Campus in Lewisburg at 5 p.m., Room 306
- Apr. 2 – Greenbrier Valley Campus in Lewisburg at 11 a.m., Room 306
Scholarship applications are due by Apr. 16. The online application and list of available scholarships are posted at www.nrctcf.org.
