For the duration of the West Virginia State Fair, the Greenbrier Historical Society will host a new exhibit on the Hidden History of Western Greenbrier County in the old MERILUCO building, located adjacent to the garden and greenhouse.
The MERILUCO building, aptly named with the first two letters of each word in Meadow River Lumber Company, was built in 1921 on the fair grounds to feature the work and skills of the lumber company.
The Hidden History exhibit will feature photographs, artifacts, and information on the industries that shaped the people and culture of Western Greenbrier County: the timbering, railroad, and coal mining industries.
The exhibit is open Aug. 7 through Aug. 16, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day. Staff will be available to give you an insider’s view.
