White Sulphur Springs-Nelson Dale Waid, 81, went to his heavenly home Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020, after a valiant battle with cancer.
His devotion to his family, and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Nelson was born to the late William and Lena Waid on Aug. 22, 1938.
He was a wonderful father, grandfather and devoted Christian. He shared his love of God with everyone he met and devoted his life to helping others. Even days prior to his death, he was still worrying and praying for the wellbeing of others. He was a true example of what it means to be a Christian. He was married to Lila (Orndoff) Waid for 36 years of Hambleton, WV, who preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2002. He later married Vaida (Counts) Waid who preceded him in death on May 19, 2018.
Nelson is survived by his daughter, Andrea Roberts of Parsons; grandson, Travis Roberts (and Ashley) of Parsons; sister, Nellie Hurley of White Sulphur Springs; and many nieces, nephews and his wonderful church family. Nelson was a dedicated member of the Wild Meadow Baptist Church and looked forward attending all church services and events.
The Day God Called You Home
God looked around his garden
And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, ‘Peace be Thine.’
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 18, between the hours of 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wild Meadow Baptist Church in White Sulphur Springs.
