Frankford – Nathan Daniel “Tubby” Loudermilk of Frankford, born Dec. 23, 1930, passed from this world on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
He was the son of Ira and Bessie Loudermilk. He served in the military in the Air Force in Iceland and had been stationed in Dover, DE. He loved NASCAR and worked for the Petty family during the 1960s He raced on the beaches during the development of NASCAR in his beloved Plymouth Fury. He was the owner/operator of Greenbrier Speedway in our own Greenbrier County And later owned and operated Loudermilk’s Garage in Frankford. He loved photography and for many years developed his own photos. He never stopped inventing his own gadgets including a remote-controlled lawnmower and a perpetual motion machine.
Anyone who knew him well, knew his love for cats and he gave a home to many in his lifetime. He was a generous, caring and loving man and will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ira and Bessie Loudermilk, as well as an infant sister and his niece, Robin Dillon and Evelyn Landrum, his brother’s mother-in-law, (even though she was technically not related by blood, he took care of her like his own mother).
He is survived by his brother, Wallace W. “Moe” Loudermilk and wife Beulah; nieces, Diana Greene and Judy Loudermilk; nephew, Jeffrey Loudermilk; great-nieces, Dareth and Danielle Greene, Shauna Crowe and Rebekah Walker; great-nephew, Zackary Dillon; as well as great-great-nieces, Katie and Brooklyn Dillon, Clara and Lillian Long; great-nephews, Flint Crowe and Jack Ortega-Greene; and lastly, his big yellow kitty.
He has donated his earthly shell to the Human Gift Registry.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
