NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will meet on the third Thursday, Nov. 20, 6 p.m., at the St James Episcopal Church on Court Street, Lewisburg.
Meeting agenda will be “How Can Writing be a Healing Force?” A PBS video entitled “Healing Words, Poetry and Medicine” will be used to explore how you can find what you believe to be healthful and healing writing and learn to write it down in your own words. This video tells the stories of patients whose lives have been dramatically changed by incorporating poetry into their recovery process. It will be an opportunity for each person to to find what is and/or has been meaningful for them and write it down.
NAMI is the largest grassroots organization in America that is dedicated to the eradication of mental illness and improving the quality of life for those affected. This mission is carried out through support, education, research and advocacy.
