The Mountain Messenger has obtained the official statement of closure of the Mullican Hardwood Flooring Plant in Ronceverte, from the office of Pat Oakley, President of the Mullican Hardwood Flooring Plant’s corporate office in Johnson City, TN, which reads as follows:
“Mullican Flooring has announced to our Ronceverte, West Virginia, plant employees that we will cease operations there, effective November 20, 2026.
We recognize the significant impact this announcement will have on our employees, their families and the broader community. The dedication, hard work and commitment demonstrated by the employees at this facility over the years have been instrumental to our success, and we are deeply grateful for their contributions.
The decision to close the Ronceverte plant follows a series of significant capital investments in technology and automation at our Norton, Virginia, plant to increase production and improve productivity.
We remain focused on serving our customers, supporting our employees, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence across our facilities in Johnson City, Tennessee; Norton, Virginia; and Holland, New York.”
Per employee statement, on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, employees of the Mullican Hardwood Flooring plant in Ronceverte were given notice that the plant is scheduled to close November 20, 2026, just days prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. This closure marks a significant change for employees, their families and the local community.
