The Southwest Virginia Angus Association held its 45th Annual “More For Your Money Sale” on Oct. 28 at the Southwest Bull Test Station Sale Facility in Wytheville, VA.
Fifty-five lots of registered Angus cattle went through the sale ring. The top selling cow/calf pair was consigned by Justafew Angus, Max Meadows, VA. The cow is a five year old daughter of Sydgen Mandate 6079 selling with a 9-14-17 bull calf by Jindra Double Vision, this pair sold for $3,000 to David Ogle of Woodlawn, VA. The second top-selling pair was a consignment of Rainbow Angus Farm of Piney Flats, TN. She is a five-year old daughter of HARB Pendleton 765 JH selling with a heifer calf sired by GVF Answer 1122, this pair sold for $2,300 also to David Ogle of Woodlawn, Va. We had 26 buyers from Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia. Volume buyers were Bob & Bev Angus Farm, Fancy Gap, VA and Laurel Run Farm, Shady Springs, WV. Smith Reasor of Rural Retreat was the Auctioneer and George T. Johnstone Jr. of Wytheville, VA was the Sale Coordinator.
The next sale for the Southwest Virginia Angus Association will be the Dec. 2 “Southwest Virginia Angus Finest Sale” held at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Abingdon, VA. At this sale we will be selling 60 Performance Tested Registered Angus Bulls, 52 Registered Angus Female Lots consisting of open heifers, bred heifers, bred cows and cows with fall calves and also commercial females. The Bulls average 648 lbs. 205 day adj.wt. 3.81lbs. gain on test and 1160 lbs. yearling weight. This is a superior group of Angus seedstock.
