Dear Editor:
Have you been experiencing problems with your Mon Power bill? Have you received outrageously high electric bills, bills that have clearly been estimated for multiple months in a row, or been required to pay an additional security deposit? If so, the Coalition for Reliable Power wants to hear from you!
The Coalition for Reliable Power (www.forreliablepower.com) is a grassroots organization that grew out of the successful effort to defeat the PATH transmission line proposed for northern West Virginia. We have been organizing in the eastern panhandle for the past several months around Potomac Edison’s billing problems and were successful in getting both the West Virginia Public Service Commission and the West Virginia Legislature to launch formal investigations into Mon Power and Potomac Edison’s billing practices. Over the past year, the West Virginia Public Service Commission has received more than 800 complaints and requests for assistance related to Mon Power and Potomac Edison’s billing practices. Potomac Edison, which also operates in Maryland, is also under investigation by the Maryland Public Service Commission for similar problems.
We are continuing to organize around these billing problems, and we want to hear your story. Please email us at info@forreliablepower.com.
Sincerely,
Cathy Kunkel
