The March and Celebration in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 19 began, as usual, in front of the Greenbrier County courthouse on Court Street (shown) in Lewisburg. This year saw a large gathering of more than 250 marchers singing We Shall Overcome as they walked up Washington Street to the Lewisburg United Methodist Church, where a community lunch was served followed by a program celebrating the accomplishments of Dr. King. A special tribute to singer, actor, and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte was also featured that day.
