I begin my article today with a heavy heart. The Greenbrier East Wrestling Family lost one of our own this week. Brady Mickey was not on the Wrestling team, but he had the heart of a Wrestler. He was a TRUE Warrior! He was the brother of our State Qualifier, Keegan Mickey and the son of Mr. Robert and Mrs. Peri Mickey. To say that the Mickey family had input into our continuous success every year would be an understatement. Mr. Mickey has been the Tournament Director for our Greenbrier Duals, Coalfield Conference Invitational and even the Regional Championships. Mrs. Mickey was our “Wrestling Mom.” There was not an event that Peri was not totally involved with to make it even better. Mr. and Mrs. Mickey were honored at our Wrestling banquet with the “Unending Loyalty” award. This is the highest award bestowed to people who truly believe in our Wrestling Program and who show it by their commitment. Well, their commitment and love for Brady epitomizes the phrase “Unending Loyalty.” God truly blessed the Greenbrier East Wrestling Family with Brady and the Mickey family. We are forever better because of them. We Love and miss you Brady. God Bless!!
TRIVIA:Levi Hobbs and Jacob Hefner both qualified for the State Wrestling Championships last year as freshmen. Can you name the only Wrestler from Greenbrier East to ever place at the State Wrestling Championships?
Upcoming events and highlights
We competed in the Point Pleasant Tournament this past weekend. We finished in 3rd. Place out of 20 teams, (Our highest finish ever in Greenbrier East history)
We also placed higher than 7 top ten teams in AA and AAA. Overall, it was a great start and teams are taking notice. The WVMAT Coaches poll bumped us up to #9 in the State. This Saturday we will be at Home with our own Greenbrier Duals Tournament starting at 11:00am. Hope to see everyone there. We will be there all day, so stop by and watch us compete and cheer on the team.

E.G.M.S. UPDATE: The E.G.M.S. Wrestlers will be competing in front of the whole school on Friday during the day. Then on Saturday, they will head to Beckley for a tournament. It should be a Fun and exciting weekend for Coach Bush and the Wrestlers.
