The Greenbrier East Wrestling team beat Greenbrier West High School to win the “Lindsey Raines” Duals Tournament. The Greenbrier East Wrestling team beat 2x-defending Champions Alleghany High School to win the Alleghany Duals Tournament. As you can see, we have been very busy succeeding the last 10 days. Both Championships took a total team effort. It was really fun, loud and exciting. I am so proud of the whole Greenbrier East Wrestling Family. From Amos to Zobrist, these wrestlers improve every day on and off the mat. I am lucky to be just a small part of their success. Let’s hope for a healthy and continued successful 2016.

TRIVIA: The Greenbrier East Wrestling program has produced some very successful wrestlers in the past 47 years. Can you name the Wrestler from Greenbrier East High School with the most career wins in school history?

Upcoming events and highlights

The Greenbrier East Wrestling team currently has a team record of 19-3 and is ranked #9 in the State. These next few weeks will be a true test of our ability. We will be competing in the West Virginia National Guard Duals Tournament this weekend. There are 36 teams representing 5 different states participating in this event. There will be dozens of State Champions and numerous nationally ranked wrestlers. It is the toughest Dual meet Tournament in the State of West Virginia.

Some of our top wrestlers with the most wins this season so far are Logan Evans (21), Jacob Hefner (20), Jasiel Kinder (19), Aaron Davis (19), Ethan Asbury (16), Levi Hobbs (16) and Jacob Thomas (14). It’s exciting to see these guys improve throughout the year. Oh, by the way, there is only one senior in that group.

See Coach Miluk or one of our current Wrestlers about our “Adopt a Wrestler” program. It’s a Great way to support our team and follow the success of our Wrestlers.

E.G.M.S. UPDATE: The Eastern Greenbrier Middle School Wrestlers will be wrestling in a tournament at Western Greenbrier this weekend. Bring your sunglasses because the future looks bright. (Ha!)

TRIVIA ANSWER: The Greenbrier East Wrestler that holds the school record for the most career wins is our current wrestler, Senior Jasiel Kinder. Jasiel Kinder picked up his 143rd victory this past weekend. He passed the previous record holder, Josiah Solak, who finished his illustrious career at Greenbrier East with 141 victories last year.
