MERRY CHRISTMAS!! We are the “Greenbrier Duals Tournament” CHAMPIONS! The team went 5-0 for the day. We beat Oak Hill (63-15), Shady Spring (64-14), Wyoming East (72-12) and PikeView (67-12). In the Championship match, we beat the 2x – defending Champions Staunton River (54-24). The six individual Champions who also went undefeated were Zach Mullins (Fr.), Logan Evans (Sr.), Levi Hobbs (Jr.), Jacob Hefner (Jr.), Jacob Thomas (Jr.) and Ethan Asbury (Sr.). It was a Fun day and that Championship match got very loud. The home crowd really made it special for the whole Greenbrier East Wrestling family.

TRIVIA: Who holds the School Wrestling record for most victories in a season?

Upcoming events and highlights:

Thursday, Dec. 29 we will travel to Charmco to defend our Championship at the Greenbrier West Duals Tournament. We beat Greenbrier West in the finals last year and they are very tough again this year.

We had the opportunity to recognize and honor our seniors this past Thursday at our match against Shady Spring. WRESTLING IS NOT EASY… and sometimes life isn’t either. That’s why these fine seniors will be more prepared for the adversities that they face in life. They are better people because they have wrestled for Greenbrier East. We are VERY proud of Andre Escobedo, Cheyenne Banton, Logan Evans, Ethan Asbury and Zach Enox.

Don’t be surprised if you see some of our freshmen in the Greenbrier East record books pretty soon. I love their commitment and eagerness to improve. Casey Bennett, Jarrett Bennett, Waymon Browning, Wiley Byers, Cody Chapman, Liam Leaseburge, Tre’ Lofton, Zach Mullins, Owen Quinn, Branson Sharp, Nick Thomas, Cameron Vaughan, Robin White and Alex Zimmerman will be a big part of our successful future. I am so proud of all of them.

EGMS UPDATE: Coach Adam Martin has been very impressed, as his Wrestlers have competed in the Nicholas County Tournament and the Wayne Bennett Duals. He had a few Champions and place-winners in both tournaments. Great job, guys.

Eastern Greenbrier Wrestling Club is also accepting memberships for anyone interested in wrestling (age 4-12). Contact Laurie Fisher at 1-304-661-2211. The turn out has been tremendous.

See Coach Miluk or one of our current Wrestlers about our “Adopt a Wrestler” program. It’s a Great way to support our team and follow the success of our Wrestlers.

Please follow us throughout the year and support the effort and success of all our wrestlers.

MILUK HUMOR: (Actually, my wife’s humor) How many men does it take to change a toilet paper roll? … Nobody Knows! (Ha)

TRIVIA ANSWER: The wrestler who holds the school record for most victories in a season is our current wrestler Logan Evans. He had 46 wins last season on his way to a 6th. Place at the State Championships.
