Millard Hugh Seams, peacefully passed away at the Genesis Nursing Home in White Sulphur Springs on Oct. 9, 2024. He was born the fourth of five children to Norman and Mary Curry Seams of Lewisburg, on Mar. 12, 1930.
Mr. Seams was a dedicated and loving father to his eight children, and a loyal devoted husband to his dear wife, Edith, whom he was married to for 71 years. He was highly respected and loved by his family, friends, and neighbors and all who came to know him and spend time with him.
Mr. Seams attended Bolling High School, in Lewisburg where he was an avid football player. He also attended Mount Tabor Baptist Church as a youth, where he was baptized. He was employed by The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, for 41+years where he made many friends and was highly loved and admired by Management and his co-workers.
Mr. Seams was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edith Evans Seams; one brother, Harry Seams; three sisters, Norma Jean Brown, Mary Frances Miller and Laura Janis Evans; his son, Michael Seams, his grandson, Scott Seams and his great-grandson, Alijah Peyton.
He is survived by one sister-in-law: Amy Hickman of Lexington, SC, seven children, Milletta Burns (Mike) of White Sulphur Springs, Earl Seams (Donna) of Summerfield, NC, Cheryl Woods (Jerry) of Lewisburg, Keith Seams (Janya) of Lewisburg, Wallace Seams (Dawn) of Dover, DE, Gerald Seams (Susan) of Lewisburg, Daniel Seams (Jennifer) of Lewisburg and daughter-in-law, Francine Seams of Fairlea; 21grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Mr. Seams was a kind and caring man and who will long be remembered and dearly missed by his family and many friends.
A celebration of life for Mr. Seams will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the John Wesley United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Joseph Evans and Rev. C. D. Oliver officiating.
