Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT), in partnership with The MET: Live in HD opera series, has announced the upcoming MET: Live in HD 2016-2017 Season. Tickets are $18 for general admission, $14 for seniors (60+) and $10 for children/students. Season tickets are available. Dr. James Caplinger, from the University of Charleston, will give a complimentary lecture 30 minutes prior to each transmission. This season The Met: Live in HD is returning with new productions of Dvořák’s tragic Rusalka, starring Kristine Opolais, and R. Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier. The Met premier of Kaija Saariaho’s medieval romance L’Amour de Loin, led by Susanna Mälkki, will be featured, as well as the revival of Verdi’s La Traviata starring Sonya Yoncheva and Michael Fabiano. Audiences will also see new productions of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde and the moving Eugene Onegin, Tchaikovsky’s adaptation of Alexandr Pushkin’s classic novel.
