Each March, Meals on Wheels celebrates the historic day in 1972 when a national nutrition program for seniors was added to the Older Americans Act. This legislation supported the rapid growth of the Meals on Wheels network that now collectively serves 2.8 million seniors each year. The program helps reduce social isolation, fosters a sense of community, and acts as a wellness check, ensuring that vulnerable seniors receive the care and attention they deserve.
The Greenbrier County Committee on Aging thanks Rainelle Mayor Andy Pendleton and Lewisburg Mayor Beverly White for participating in the program. In addition to Meals on Wheels, lunch is served Monday thru Friday at two locations in Greenbrier County, the Rupert Center and Fairlea Nutrition Site.
If you would like to donate to this program, checks can be sent to Greenbrier County Committee on Aging, P.O. Box 556, Rupert WV 25984.
