Ronceverte-Maxine Marie Whanger, 88, passed away Sunday, Mar. 1, 2020, at her home following a sudden illness.
Born Aug. 11, 1931, at Ronceverte, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Edna Morgan Ford.
Maxine was a former member of Ketron United Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Merrel N. Whanger who died May 1, 2017; her sister, Detra Hudson; and brothers, Donald and Dennis Ford.
She is survived by daughters, Martha Sue Kirk and husband Cary of Renick, Nora Mann and companion Terry Walkup of Renick, and Barbara Gabbert of Ronceverte; grandchildren, Michelle Bales, Sheree Rideout, Monica Mann, Lisa Ochoa, Chad Kirk, Michael Gabbert, Tonya Langdon, and Anthony Mann; 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bessie Brooks of Taylors, SC; son-in-law, Cecil Gabbert of Ronceverte; and former son-in-law, Larry Mann of Ronceverte.
As per Maxine’s wishes there will be a private family graveside service.
