-Mary Ellen Bittinger, 97, passed away Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023, at White Sulphur Springs Center.
Mary was born on Aug. 24, 1926, in Beech Fork, TN, the daughter of the late Ross P. and Rose Lee Kennedy Holley.
She was a homemaker and worked for The Greenbrier Hotel Laundry for nine years. She was a long-time member of The White Sulphur Springs Church of God (Bethesda).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Bittinger, Sr; a son, Marty Bittinger, two sisters, Betty Anderson and Dorothy Vaughan; two brothers, Charles Holley and Lawrence Junior Holley; and a granddaughter, Stacy Weaver; two daughters-in-law, Carol Bittinger and Mary Bittinger.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Teresa O’Neil (Pat) of White Sulphur Springs; five sons, Paul Bittinger (Eugenia), Tommy Bittinger, Gary Bittinger (Sandy), Terence Bittinger (Debbie) and Shane Bittinger (Marsha) all of White Sulphur Springs. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
She is remembered for her love for God, her service in her church and the legacy she has left with her family.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 27 at Bethesda Church in White Sulphur Springs where Bishop Bryan Mathews officiated. Interment followed in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens in Lewisburg, WV.
Visitation was be held prior to the service at Bethesda Church.
